Library Associate II - Metadata Specialist Tech Temp

Job Purpose: Perform routine to complex assignments in support of specific segments of library operations. Such assignments may include digital library development and maintenance, branch library operations, and development/maintenance of various library specific software applications and databases. Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide a variety of branch library services which may include reserves processing, reference and technical assistance and general administrative services.
  • Perform records creation and maintenance associated with specialized areas of library operations.
  • Participate in specialized collection development and maintenance services.
  • Perform various process routines associated with specialized library services.
  • May assist in providing customer service for library patrons.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Education: Technical Diploma, Associates Degree, 2 yrs college level course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Experience: Four to five years job related experience.
Certifications: N/A

Skills: This job requires skills in the advanced application of library policies, practices and procedures specific to area(s) of assignment. Skills in organization, problem, communications and customer service are required as is use of office and specialized computer applications and databases.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred Work Experience: Master's of Library Science could substitute for experience
Preferred Skills: 
  • Work within a university library environment
  • Familiarity with metadata principles and practices; this position focuses on records creation and maintenance using metadata schema
  • Experience searching and retrieving records from scholarly publication databases or with creating scholarly bibliographies
  • Familiarity with research information networks, with institutional repositories, or with scholarly communications practices
